I have always needed a creative outlet or two to keep the smile on my dial. Being a surfer and watching all the epic moments we get to experience led me to grab a camera and document them. Soon I found myself waking up long before sunrise, putting on some fins and a freezing wetsuit. Spending my mornings waiting in the dark for enough light to swim out and capture those few magic minutes before, during and just after sunrise. There is no better way to start the day.

The perfect way to start the day. Ah man, mornings like this are what we all live for.

Mitchy Du Preez flying at home. I have watched Mitch grow up and been on a few trips with him and his brother Bryce. We always have a good laugh in the water and its so cool to see how he has gone from a micro grom to a fully fledged ripper.

Ocean throwing some love. Super shallow and sketchy but always beautiful. Perfect heart shaped barrels this day.

Michael Rodrigues tail high sunrise punt. I was actually shooting from further down the point this morning with a different lens and was in the process of walking up towards the paddle out keyhole to get some lifestyle shots when MRod got this little runner and hucked this full rotation at the sun. Shot this while walking, pretty stoked with how it worked out.

Dan the man. So stoked to have shot Dans first cover, what a talent and always blows my mind when he surfs. This ran as the cover of BoardTalk . Watch this man blow up on the world stage soon.

Frothing out. Some of my favourite images have come from days I wouldn’t normally even bother to swim. Those days you actually work harder to find something unique.
